Sledgehammer and Activision have revealed the first of the four DLC packs for Call of Duty: WWII. The Resistance DLC Pack will feature three new maps and a new War Operation inspired by the various resistance efforts during World War II. There will also be a new chapter of the Zombie Mode with a new weapon and new type zombies
This pack includes three new maps that are inspired by different resistance movements during WWII. The team was excited about being able to show another side of the conflict, one which was largely made up of ordinary citizens who took a stand against the Nazi occupation and explore new areas. The three new maps are:
- Anthropoid: Based in Prague, Czechoslovakia, this map is inspired by Operation Anthropoid, the famous assassination attempt on a high-ranking German officer during World War II. This map features a centre lane divided by a river, with long-flanking paths that can be used by snipers for ranged attacks.
- Occupation: In this remake of the classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer map Resistance, players battle through the streets and shops of German-occupied Paris during WWII. Long side streets encourage mid-range combat, with nearby homes and storefronts lending defensive positions for ambush and recovery.
- Valkyrie: Located in the Masurian Woods, East Prussia, this map was inspired by The Wolf’s Lair, Hitler’s Eastern-front headquarters during Operation Barbarossa, the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union. This is a medium-sized map with gameplay focused on a dangerous centre lane covered by multiple overwatch positions and mounted machine guns.
The new War Mode Operation is an urban battle. The three-part objective fight will ask players to take up the cause as resistance members or fight to stop them. The first phase is a rescue mission to save Resistance fighters being transported by train. After which you will have to destroy key communication equipment before finally leading an assault to stop a train.
Zombie Mode Darkest Shore
The Darkest Shore follows our heroes into the next chapter of their dangerous journey. Only days after the horrific disaster of Mittelburg, the crew has received intel that suggests Doktor Straub is on an island just north of Germany. Blanketed in fog, this island is surrounded by Nazi air and sea power – and crawling with the Undead.
The fog not only adds a creepy atmosphere but also the added challenge of not being able to see the enemy until they are right on top of you. The Sledgehammer team has added a new weapon the ‘rip-saw’ which is part gun and part buzz saw to fight zombies at a distance as well as when they are right on top of you. Of course, this chapter will not be a walk in the park as they have also added a new type of Zombie which will behave much more strategically than others.
The Resistance DLC pack will be available January 30th on PS4, and 30 days later for PC & Xbox. If you own the season pass you will also receive the Winter Carentan map which is currently being reviewed as part of the Winter Siege event.
