New Year may be a time for many to make resolutions like quitting smoking or drinking less, but for gamers it means one thing and one thing only… A huge list of upcoming games we can’t wait to play over the next twelve months!
So without further ado, here are the games each of us is most looking forward to playing in the upcoming year:
“With both the previous games I’ve been hooked, always running around collecting agility orbs to completion. With fun and frantic co-operative play I’m sure Crackdown 3 will be an awesome game.”
With a focus on a new and completely destructive multiplayer experience, Crackdown 3 is set to become one of the biggest multiplayer titles of 2017.
Sea of Thieves
“I’m looking forward to the online side of the game, sailing the seven seas and looking for treasure.”
Another multiplayer focused game, Sea of Thieves boasts of piracy and infamy as you crew a ship with friends and sail the ocean in search of buried treasure and ships to plunder.
Also Sea of Thieves… Or Constructor HD
“That’s a tough one! The game I’m looking forward to most in 2017 has to either be the Constructor Re-make as I’m a classic simulation lover at heart, although that’s due out in February providing it isn’t delayed again. As for Triple A titles, I’d say that Sea of Thieves intrigues me the most.”
With new maps, game modes and updated graphics Constructor HD looks like it will bring the 20 year old simulator onto current gen consoles and PC.
“Bethesda did incredibly well to reboot the two legendary franchises: Wolfenstein and DOOM. Prey (2006) was an incredibly underrated game, and I think Bethesda’s Arcane Studios have the creativity and the fire-power to really make it amazing. From what I’ve seen and read about Prey (2017), with it’s non-linear RPG mechanics and atmospheric horror, I can already tell you that it is going to take this generation by storm.”
I can appreciate why Tom is getting excited about Prey; set on the Talos 1 space station you must survive the threat of a shape-shifting alien menace that views you as it’s prey. With a host of alien powers, skills and craftable items at your disposal, Prey looks like it will swallow a fair amount of your 2017.
Red Dead Redemption 2
“I would choose Red Dead Redemption 2 as the Wild West is done best by Rockstar. I’m sure the sequel will pack in a lot of story and action just like it’s predecessor.”
With the first Red Dead Redemption and GTA V under their belts, Rockstar seem to have a sure-fire success in Red Dead Redemption 2. The gorgeous graphics of the trailer and it’s mysterious air have left a lot of gamers eagerly anticipating it’s Autumn release date.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
“The fourth Mass Effect game of the series has the promise of great visuals and storyline which is one of the major things I look for in a video game.”
Mass Effect Andromeda ïs set a world away from the previous trilogy, an entire universe in fact. This change of location means you take control of an entirely new character with entirely new frenemies, but the core gameplay looks to be more or less unchanged. Fans of the series will not be disappointed as they explore another galaxy.
Sam: Editor (Me)
As a Victorian Doctor battling with recent vampirism, you must balance your new-found thirst for blood with your Hippocratic Oath. Boasting free reign to choose whomever you want to feed off, whether homeless in the gutter who nobody will notice or just your enemies who probably deserve it. I love games with freedom of choice and moral dilemmas like Bioshock or anything by Bethesda, so Vampyr looks like it could be one to watch in 2017. That and the best vampire game I’ve played recently was Skyrim… The gaming industry has a severe lack of good vampire games, and after the dismal displays on 360 from Vampire Rain and Dark it would be great to see the terror of the night live up to it’s name, for the right reasons.
